  4. The Pied Pipers were a popular singing group in the late 1930s and 1940s. In 1938 two vocal groups ( The Three Rhythm Kings & The 4 Esquires) and Jo Stafford (from The Stafford Sisters) merged into one supergroup, vocal octet The Pied Pipers.
