He recorded more than 1,000 records between 1927 and 1941.

  7. He made more than 1,000 recordings in the short span of 15 years, spanning between 1926 and 1941. On April 17th, 1941, he was tragically killed by the explosion of a parachute mine right outside his flat on Jermyn Street in London during the Blitz. He was 42 years old.
