Pat Rush was born on June 27, 1952 in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. He grew up mostly in the southern U.S.A. He spent most of his teenage years in Virginia Beach, Virginia. That's where he at the age of nine, learned to play his first musical instrument, the trumpet, at Princess Anne Public School.
