20. Jan. 2007 · Be sure to check out Ace's George Tomsco cd: "The Tex-Mex Fireball". George was (is) the Fireball's lead guitarist and composer of Torquay, Bulldog, Footpatter, etc. This cd has 30 Norman Petty produced tracts from Clovis featuring George backing Arthur Alexander, Carolyn Hester, Buddy Holly (the overdubs) and many others.
It's a major leap from Clovis tex-mex to soul but the Fireballs manage it. The other big name is Carolyn Hester who was big in the folk scene in NY in the early 60's. She was born in Waco, Texas, and grew up in Dallas, Austin and Denver before the family settled in Lubbock.
