Drums and Drones is the solo project of Brian Chase. The aim of the project is to apply principles of deep listening by exploring subtle acoustic properties of a drums resonance. Live performances of Drums and Drones often include the visuals of video artist Ursula Scherrer. The project is inspired by the Dream House.
Drum Roll Drone This recording is exactly what it says it is - drums and drones - based on Just Intonation tuning theory: A tuning system modeled after a naturally occurring acoustic phenomenon known as overtones, the subsidiary tones which exist in an ordered series from an established primary tone.

1. Juni 2018 · Building on over a decade of work, Drums & Drones II follows master drummer and composer Brian Chase (Yeah Yeah Yeahs) into unchartered sonic realms. All of the pieces are based on the acoustic resonance of a single drum with each track designed to emphasize a different method of sonic investigation.
