The Caravans emerged in 1952 as an offshoot of Chicago singer Robert Anderson’s Gospel Caravan. The original Caravans consisted of vocalists Walker, Ora Lee Hopkins, Elyse Yancey and Nellie Grace Daniels with pianist Edward Robinson.
