William Nicholson Simpson (11 September 1931 – 21 December 1986) was a Scottish actor, best remembered for his portrayal of the title role in the long-running BBC TV series Dr. Finlay's Casebook.

About Bill. E.J. "Bill" Simpson made safety part of the racing vernacular, and lived his life on the edge. Born near the beaches of California, he started in drag racing and spread his knowledge to IndyCar, NASCAR and Formula 1.
