Frank Trumbauer (1901 – 1956), genannt „Tram“, war eine prägende Figur der Jazzgeschichte. Inspiriert vom virtuosen Ragtime- und Show-Saxofonisten Rudy Wiedoeft, konzentrierte sich Trumbauer schon mit 17 Jahren aufs C-Melody-Saxofon. Er gehörte zu den ersten Musikern, die dem Saxofon zu einer eigenen Stimme im Jazz verhalfen.
