Jamaican vocal group formed in late 1960's by Slim Smith with Roy Shirley and Franklyn White. Shirley and White left and were replaced by Jimmy Riley and Lloyd Tyrell (aka Lloyd Charmers). Disbanded after Slim Smith went solo, Jimmy Riley reformed the band in 1978 with Cornell Campbell and Noel "Scully" Simms, then joined by Al Campbell in 1997.
The Uniques were a Jamaican ska, rocksteady and reggae vocal group active formed in 1966 and active with varying line-ups until the late 1970s. rocksteady has exercised a thirty year hold on Jamaican music - its rhythms, basslines, melodies and songs are re-interpreted and returned to as a source of inspiration during every new musical phase.
