The Academy of Live and Recorded Arts (ALRA) was a British drama school. It had two sites: ALRA South on Wandsworth Common in south London and ALRA North in Wigan, Greater Manchester. It was founded in 1979 by director and actor Sorrel Carson who then directed the school as its principal until 2001.

It was a highly regarded and coveted drama academy until it’s sudden and sad closure in April 2022. This website is dedicated to providing a single source for all things ALRA and its alumni who continue to perform, teach and direct all over the world today.

York College. The BA Acting for Stage & Screen* is an intensive training programme created and run in close partnership with Academy of Live and Recorded Arts (ALRA). Students will take specialist classes exploring a wide range of acting skills, voice movement, and dramatic combat with ALRA staff alongside the in-house tutors.
