Aug. 2020 · With a recording history spanning 16 years from the first Magic Band single in 1966 (a cover of Bo Diddley’s ‘Diddy Wah Diddy’) to his final album, Ice Cream For Crow in 1982, Captain Beefheart (AKA Don Van Vliet) inarguably remains one of the most enigmatic and influential figures in music.
Track by track, this thing smokes. "Hot Head" sets a four-note octave-hopping riff in motion, propelled by a Drumbo-like beat by superlative drummer Robert Williams.
