Sir Salvador Enrique Moncada Seidner, FRS, FRCP, FMedSci (born 3 December 1944) is a Honduran-British pharmacologist and professor. He is currently Research Domain Director for Cancer at the University of Manchester.
Salvador Enrique Moncada (Tegucigalpa, Honduras, 3 de diciembre de 1944) es un científico hondureño y naturalizado británico. Médico, miembro de la Royal Society (Inglaterra), del Royal College of Physicians (Inglaterra) y de la Academy of Medical Sciences (Inglaterra). Desde el 14 de septiembre es embajador de Honduras en China.
Prof Sir. Salvador Moncada. BIO. From 1975 to 1995, Professor Moncada worked at the Wellcome Research Laboratories, first as Head of Prostaglandin Research and then as Director of Research. He described the structure of prostacyclin, which acts as an effective vasodilator and also prevents blood platelets from clumping.
Salvador Moncada is a renowned pharmacologist and medical scientist who discovered prostacyclin, nitric oxide and their roles in vascular biology and inflammation. He also developed drugs to treat various conditions and received many scientific honours and awards.
