Holmes Sterling Morrison Jr. (August 29, 1942 – August 30, 1995) was an American guitarist, best known as one of the founding members of the rock band the Velvet Underground, usually playing electric guitar, occasionally bass guitar, and singing backing vocals.

Sterling Morrison spielte meist die begleitenden Gitarrenriffs, sprang aber auch abwechselnd als Leadgitarrist oder Bassist ein, während Reed sang oder Gitarre spielte und der Multi-Instrumentalist Cale, der eigentliche Bassist der Gruppe, eine elektrisch verstärkte Viola/Violine oder Tasteninstrumente (Orgel, Klavier) bediente.
