Hillel Slovak wirkte an den Alben The Uplift Mofo Party Plan, Freaky Styley und an der Abbey Road EP mit. Die Arbeit am vierten Album Rockin Freakapotamus (später als Mother’s Milk veröffentlicht) konnte aufgrund Slovaks Ableben zunächst nicht fertiggestellt werden.
The band's 1987 cover version of Jimi Hendrix's song "Fire", recorded with Slovak and previously only released on the "Fight Like a Brave" single and The Abbey Road EP, was included on 1989's Mother's Milk along with an image of one of Slovak's paintings inside the album's booklet.
14. Aug. 2019 · The band began with guitarist Hillel Slovak, who left before their self-titled 1984 debut, to be replaced by Jack Sherman. Sherman left after that album and was replaced by the returning Slovak, who played on Freaky Styley (1985) and The Uplift Mofo Party Plan (1987), their next two albums.
