It isn't political but for one of the best "courtroom dramas" check out Anatomy of a Murder starring Jimmy Stewart and directed byOtto Preminger. Clever and likable.

I watched the movie recently and subsequently read an article with the lead prosecutor Richard Schultz. According to Schultz, Bobby Seale being denied legal representation by the judge and his ensuing outbursts at court were part of a ploy by the defense to seem more victimized in front of the jury.
