Biografie. Harris wurde auf einem Kris-Kross-Konzert von deren Produzenten Jermaine Dupri entdeckt. Daraufhin erhielt sie einen Plattenvertrag bei dessen Label So So Def Records, nannte sich fortan Da Brat und veröffentlichte 1994 ihr Debütalbum Funkdafied, das, wie auch alle folgenden Longplayer, von Dupri produziert wurde.

Born and raised in Chicago, she began her career in 1992 and signed with Jermaine Dupri 's So So Def Recordings two years later to release her debut studio album, Funkdafied (1994).
