Juni 2022 · Elie Samaha, a U.S.-Lebanese citizen, and his wife Lara Samaha, who holds a U.S. green card, are suing Gebran Bassil, Lebanon’s former foreign minister, and lawyer Salim Jreissati, a presidential advisor, for allegedly orchestrating their imprisonment and torture in Lebanon. The case has the potential to expose the abuse of power and judicial corruption in Lebanon and could trigger U.S. sanctions against the defendants.
