The Lilac Time is a British alternative folk-rock band, originally formed in Herefordshire, England by Stephen Duffy, his brother Nick Duffy and their friend Michael Weston in 1986. The band's name was taken from a line in the Nick Drake song "River Man".

A lesson in first impressions. quite thick and syrupy production and saccharine smacks of strawberries filled me with dread on getting through the first track. from there on the songs are hooky and verge on being a bit sophisticated at points, being almost uniformly fun and great.
