French Kiss is the first solo album by Bob Welch, released in 1977. It opened with a re-recording of his song Sentimental Lady from the 1972 Fleetwood Mac album Bare Trees. This featured his former Fleetwood Mac colleagues Mick Fleetwood (drums) and Christine McVie (backing vocals) as well as guitar, background vocals and production from his successor in the group, Lindsey Buckingham.

The rest of the album saw Welch coming into his own as a solo artist showing disco leanings. Sentimental Lady and the follow-up single Ebony Eyes were both hits and Christine McVie guested on two other tracks.

  5. 6. Feb. 2021 · The songs on French Kiss aren’t songs of adolescent love, but of adults who had the means and opportunity to live life on its wilder and more carless side. The big hit, “Sentimental Lady,” sums it up best: “You are here and warm. But I could look away and you’d be gone. Cause we live in a time. When meaning falls in splinters from our lives”
