Oscar II (Oscar Fredrik; [1] 21 January 1829 – 8 December 1907) was King of Sweden from 1872 until his death in 1907 and King of Norway from 1872 to 1905. Oscar was the son of King Oscar I and Queen Josephine. He inherited the Swedish and Norwegian thrones when his brother died in 1872.
Oskar II was a conservative king, and asserted the power of the throne against the Government and the Parliamentary Session. Strong parliamentary currents during his reign weakened the king's power over both foreign and domestic policy.

5. März 2018 · Oscar II was crowned King of Sweden and Norway at the age of 43, following the death of his brother King Karl XV. As a king, he was conservative and asserted the power of the throne against the Government and the Parliamentary Session.
