University College, Oxford. Sir Timothy Shelley, 2nd Baronet (7 September 1753 – 24 April 1844), was an English politician and lawyer. He was the son of Sir Bysshe Shelley, 1st Baronet, and the father of Romantic poet and dramatist Percy Bysshe Shelley .
Percy Bysshe Shelley war der älteste Sohn und Heir apparent des reichen Adligen Sir Timothy Shelley, 2nd Baronet of Castle Goring (1753–1844) und dessen Ehefrau Elizabeth Pilfold. Nach der frühen Schulausbildung an der Syon House Academy in Islington bei London besuchte er das Eton College und die Universität in Oxford.
Verney, der letzte Mensch (Original: The Last Man) ist ein apokalyptischer Science-Fiction -Roman von Mary Shelley, der erstmals im Jahr 1826 veröffentlicht wurde. Der Roman erzählt von einer futuristischen Welt, in der eine Seuche verheerende Schäden angerichtet hat.
Timothy Shelley wollte damit erreichen, dass in Vergessenheit geriet, für welch radikale Ideen sein Sohn eingetreten war. Den Gedichtband Posthumous Poems of P. B. Shelley, den Mary Shelley 1824 herausgab, kaufte Timothy weitgehend auf und ließ die Bücher vernichten.
