About Us. We have a long and rich history as a school dating back to 1585 when the original Heath Grammar School was established. The current school building dates to 1861 when the Crossley brothers founded an ‘Orphan Home and School for Boys and Girls’, later renamed ‘Crossley and Porter School’.
The Association exists to keep old boys of the former Heath Grammar School in touch with each other. Heath Grammar School ceased to exist as a separate entity in 1985 when it amalgamated with Crossley & Porter School to form Crossley Heath School.

2. März 2019 · A charter for the establishing of a free grammar school was obtained by Henry Farrar of Ewood, at his own expense, from Queen Elizabeth in February, 1585. The first land was given to the school in 1597 by the same Henry Farrar.

Thomas Cox's history of the school (Cox) mentions many former pupils of the school but not normally with significant details about them. The Class lists from 1887 to 1906 [L] provide the names of the masters and of the pupils in each class along with the academic successes of former pupils.
