Edward „Ed“ Asner, genannt auch Eddie Asner, war ein US-amerikanischer Schauspieler sowie Filmproduzent, Synchronsprecher und Menschenrechtsaktivist. Eine seiner bekanntesten Rollen war die des Journalisten Lou Grant, zunächst in der Sitcom Mary Tyler Moore, danach als Titelfigur in der Dramaserie Lou Grant.
Eddie Asner [1] ( / ˈæznər /; November 15, 1929 – August 29, 2021) was an American actor. He is most notable for portraying Lou Grant during the 1970s and early 1980s, on both The Mary Tyler Moore Show and its spin-off series Lou Grant, making him one of the few television actors to portray the same character in both a comedy and a drama.
In addition to appearing on screen and stage, he performed extensive work for radio, video games and animated TV series. He voiced the lead character Carl Fredricksen in Pixar's Oscar-winning production of Up (2009), starred as Santa in Elf (2003), and played Nicholas Drago in The Games Maker (2014).
