Althea Louise Brough Clapp (née Brough; March 11, 1923 – February 3, 2014) was an American tennis player. In her career between 1939 and 1959, she won six Grand Slam titles in singles as well as numerous doubles and mixed-doubles titles.
Biographie. Brough wuchs in Kalifornien auf, erhielt ihre ersten Trainerstunden mit 13 Jahren und gewann mit 17 Jahren die amerikanischen Juniorenmeisterschaften. Brough gewann die amerikanischen Tennismeisterschaften (heute US Open) in Forest Hills einmal (1947) und stand fünfmal im Finale.
Brough was ranked in the world Top 10 from 1946 to 1957. In total, she spent 16 years ranked among the USLTA (later the USTA) top 10 female players, the third best streak in history behind Chris Evert (19) and King (18).
