  6. Charley PADDOCK was a US sprinter who won two Olympic gold medals in 100m and 200m at the 1920 and 1924 Games. He also set two world records in 100m and 200m and competed in the 4x100m relay.

  7. Paddock was a lieutenant in the artillery at the time, and when he returned home he became the most famous track athlete of the twenties. He had a bouncing stride, high knee action and a famous "jump finish". He always wore silk when he ran and, in addition to being a successful journalist, he was his own publicity manager.
