Jan Stenerud (/ ˈ s t ɛ n ə r uː d /, Norwegian: [ˈstèːnərʉːd] ⓘ; born November 26, 1942) is a Norwegian-American former football placekicker who played in the National Football League (NFL) and American Football League (AFL) for 19 seasons, primarily with the Kansas City Chiefs.

The Norwegian-born Stenerud, who had no inkling to become a pro football player, had always aspired to become a ski jumper.
Jan was the most accurate kicker in all of pro football from '80 to '84; he made 82% of this field goals. In 1981, when he was with the Green Bay Packers, he made 22 of 24 field goals, a league record of 91% -- 91.7 -- and he had an impact also on the Hall of Fame because he was the very first specialist to enter Pro Football's Hall of Fame.

Jan Stenerud played for the Packers from 1980 to 1983 and made 59 of 73 field goals, including four game-winners. He was a Pro Football Hall of Famer and a consistent kicker who ended his career with 373 field goals.
7. Feb. 2013 · Jan Stenerud was the first pure placekicker to be inducted into the Hall of Fame and the fifth Chiefs player to make it to Canton. He played 19 NFL seasons, scored 1,699 points, and hit a 48-yard field goal in Super Bowl IV.
