Hélio Gracie ( ɛliu ɡɾejsi; * 1. Oktober 1913 in Belém do Pará; † 29. Januar 2009 in Petrópolis) war ein brasilianischer Kampfsportler, der zusammen mit seinem Bruder Carlos Gracie die Kampfkunst des Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu (BJJ) international bekannt machte.

On October 23, 1951, Helio Gracie faced Masahiko Kimura who outweighed him by nearly 80 lbs. It was the first time that a jiu-jitsu world championship match would be held outside of Japan....

Das Brasilianische Jiu Jitsu ist die südamerikanische Variante des Kōdōkan Jūdō und wurde von den Brüdern Carlos und Hélio Gracie entwickelt. Carlos Gracie lernte das Judō von Mitsuyo Maeda , einem Schüler von Kanō Jigorō und gab es an seinen jüngeren Bruder Hélio weiter.
