Dimitrios Vikelas, ( griechisch Δημήτριος Βικέλας, oft Demetrios Vikelas transkribiert, * 15. Februar 1835 in Ermoupolis, Syros; † 20. Juli 1908 in Athen) war ein griechischer Geschäftsmann und Literat. Bedeutend ist sein Wirken als erster Präsident des Internationalen Olympischen Komitees von 1894 bis 1896.
Demetrios Vikelas (also Demetrius Bikelas; Greek: Δημήτριος Βικέλας; 15 February 1835 [1] – 20 July 1908) was a Greek businessman and writer; he was the co-founder and first President of the International Olympic Committee (IOC), from 1894 to 1896.
Dimitrios Vikelas (1835-1908) was a key figure in Greece during the second half of the nineteenth century and occupies a central position in its literary and cultural develop ments.

Biography. Dimitrios Vikelas was the first IOC President (1894-1896), and with a two-year reign, the President who has held the office for the shortest period of time. It has been written that “of all the IOC Presidents, Vikelas was without question the most learned, the most international, the most cosmopolitan.”.

Demetrius Vikelas was the first IOC President (1894-1896) and, with a two-year mandate, the president who held the office for the shortest period of time. In 1893, Vikelas created the Institut Melas, which was formed to help with pre-school education in non-Athenian parts of Greece.
