Hideo Murai (村井 秀夫 Murai Hideo, December 5, 1958 – April 23, 1995) was a member of the Aum Shinrikyo cult and one of the perpetrators responsible for the Sakamoto family murder. He also helped plan the Tokyo subway sarin attack. Murai held a doctorate in astrophysics.

Hideo Murai was a member of the doomsday cult Aum Shinrikyo that carried out the sarin gas attack on the Tokyo Metro in 1995, killing 13 and injuring over 1,000 people. He was assassinated by a hit man before he could be arrested, while the cult's leader Shoko Asahara was executed in 2018.
