John A. Russo (born September 2, 1939), sometimes credited as Jack Russo or John Russo, is an American screenwriter and film director most commonly associated with the 1968 horror classic film Night of the Living Dead, which he co-wrote with director George Romero.

John A. Russo wurde am 2. Februar 1939 geboren. Er studierte an der West Virginia University. Ein Freund stellte ihm den in Pittsburgh studierenden George A. Romero vor. Die beiden blieben auch während Russos Armeedienst in Kontakt. Nach seiner Ausmusterung begann Russo in einer von Romero gegründeten Firma für Werbefilme zu arbeiten.
