Mit seiner entwickelten Stop-Motion-Technik war er eine wichtige Inspirationsquelle für Regisseure wie Tim Burton und Terry Gilliam. Im Interview spricht Jan Švankmajer darüber, wie er zum Filmdreh kam, über sein Berufsverbot, den Begriff Freiheit und was es für ihn bedeutet Surrealist zu sein.
