James Henry Kinmel Sangster (2 December 1927 – 19 August 2011) was a British screenwriter and director, most famous for his work on the initial horror films made by the British company Hammer Films, including The Curse of Frankenstein (1957) and Dracula (1958).

Jimmy Sangster was a prolific and influential screenwriter and director of horror films, especially for Hammer Studios. He wrote classics such as The Curse of Frankenstein, Horror of Dracula and The Mummy, and also worked in Hollywood and TV.
Jimmy Sangster (1927-2011), was one of the first members of a company that eventually became the ultra-cult Hammer Studios in Great Britain. In fact, Jimmy Sangster, along with other of the company’s directors and actors, such as Terence Fischer and Christopher Lee to mention a few, became a cult figure himself.
