Das Stabat mater (nach dem Gedichtanfang Stabat mater dolorosa, lat. für ‚Es stand die Mutter schmerzerfüllt‘) ist ein mittelalterliches Gedicht, das die Mutter Jesu in ihrem Schmerz um den gekreuzigten Jesus als zentralen Inhalt hat. Die Verfasserschaft ist ungeklärt.
Unter der Leitung von Andrea Marcon spielt das Konzerthausorchester Berlin mit Giovanni Battista Pergolesis „Stabat Mater“ eines der berührendsten und einflussreichsten geistlichen Werke des Barock. Stabat Mater is a work about motherhood and separation. It is built upon the repetition, for fifteen times, of an eighteen seconds film. The nude portrait of the woman, the artist herself, shown in the film is a painting by the artist’s former husband, Bernardo Siciliano.

März 2022 · In a dual release for Easter 2022, countertenor Jakub Józef Orliński, with the instrumentalists of Capella Cracoviensis and conductor Jan Tomasz Adamus, performs Vivaldi’s Stabat Mater on both CD and DVD. The ‘short feature’ video of the work has been conceived by award-winning director Sebastian Pańczyk.
