The Almond and the Seahorse is a 2022 British independent drama film directed by Celyn Jones and Tom Stern and written by Jones and Kaite O'Reilly, based on O'Reilly's 2008 stage play of the same name. The film stars Trine Dyrholm, Meera Syal, Rebel Wilson and Charlotte Gainsbourg.
He gave birth to his son in January 2018. In 2019, McConnell recorded the experience of receiving artificial insemination and of his subsequent pregnancy in the documentary film Seahorse, which made its debut at the Tribeca Film Festival in the same year. The film was directed by Jeanie Finlay and made in association with The Guardian.
