Eli Reed (* 4. August 1946 in Linden, New Jersey) ist ein US-amerikanischer Fotograf und Mitglied der Agentur Magnum Photos. Der Fotojournalist trat zugleich als Dokumentarfilmer und Hochschullehrer hervor.
Eli Reed began photographing as a freelancer in 1970. His work covering Central American countries attracted the attention of Magnum in 1982.
Ellis (Eli) Reed (born 1946) is an American photographer and photojournalist. Reed was the first full-time black photographer employed by Magnum Agency and the author of several books, including Black In America. Several of the photographs from that project have been recognized in juried shows and exhibitions.
Circa 1970-1971 © Eli Reed | Magnum Photos. Reed had been a keen practitioner of judo since 1965, a martial art whose combined offerings of physical and spiritual training, the photographer says, became a religion to him. At one of these classes he met a friend and fellow photographer Les Wormack.
Eli Reed is a Magnum Photos member and a Pulitzer Prize nominee who has photographed in Central America, Africa, and the US. He has authored several books, worked on film documentaries, and received many awards and honors for his photojournalism.
