James Gamble Rogers IV (January 31, 1937 – October 10, 1991) was an American folk artist musician and storyteller known for the recurring theme in his songs and stories about characters and places in a fictional Florida county. He was a 1998 inductee into the Florida Artists Hall of Fame.

On Oct. 10, 1991, beloved Florida folk singer Gamble Rogers and his wife were camping at Flagler Beach State Recreation Area. Upon returning to their campsite after a long day of cycling, Gamble was approached by a young girl whose father was struggling in the rough surf.
Welcome to Gamble Rogers Memorial State Recreation Area at Flagler Beach. Gamble Rogers is a small park tucked gently between the shores of the Atlantic Ocean and the Intracoastal Waterway. This 145-acre park located on barrier island is named for Florida folk singer and storyteller Gamble Rogers.
