Leben. Wood war Schüler der Royal Academy of Music in London und wurde dort 1923 Professor. 1895 begründete er die bekannte Konzertreihe Promenade Concerts, kurz Proms, die traditionell mit der Royal Albert Hall in London verknüpft ist, jedoch ursprünglich in der Queen’s Hall stattfand.
Sir Henry Joseph Wood CH (3 March 1869 – 19 August 1944) was an English conductor best known for his association with London's annual series of promenade concerts, known as the Proms. He conducted them for nearly half a century, introducing hundreds of new works to British audiences.
