Jean-Baptiste Bessières (* 6. August 1768 in Prayssac ( Quercy ); † 1. Mai 1813 bei Rippach) war ein französischer Offizier in der Zeit der Revolutionskriege. His appointment as marshal signaled Napoleon’s intention to develop the imperial guard. In 1792 Bessières joined Louis XVI’s constitutional guard as a private.

Bessières was a vigorous reserve officer but prudent and circumspect. He was to be seen in all the great battles performing the greatests of services. And this was indeed the role he played in all the Napoleonic campaigns until his death on 1 May, 1813.
