Lim Kit Siang. Lim Kit Siang (* 20. Februar 1941; chinesisch 林吉祥; Pinyin: Lín Jíxiáng) ist einer der führenden Oppositionspolitiker der DAP in Malaysia. Seit 2004 vertritt er den Wahlkreis Ipoh Timur im malaysischen Parlament. Davor saß er auch schon von 1969 bis 1999 für vier verschiedene Wahlkreise im Parlament.
5. Juni 2023 · KUALA LUMPUR, June 5 — Veteran DAP politician Tan Sri Lim Kit Siang said today he still prefers others to call him just “Kit” despite being awarded the prestigious “Tan Sri” title in conjunction with Yang di-Pertuan Agong’s official birthday celebration.
Lim Kit Siang is a Member of Parliament since 1969 and the leader of the Democratic Action Party (DAP). He has been detained twice under the Internal Security Act, exposed government scandals, and led the opposition bloc for decades.
4. Juni 2023 · The former DAP leader and MP is set to receive the second-highest federal award on the Yang di-Pertuan Agong's Birthday, according to anonymous sources. He would be the first from his party to be conferred the 'Tan Sri' title, following its convention to avoid such honours while in office.
The veteran DAP leader was honoured by the Yang di-Pertuan Agong in conjunction with his 64th birthday celebrations. The award comes after Lim stepped down from active politics in 2022, following DAP's principle of not accepting titles while in office.
