Vizeadmiral Nobutake Kondo. Kondō Nobutake (jap. 近藤 信竹; * 25. September 1886 in Osaka; † 19. Februar 1953) war ein japanischer Admiral. Er graduierte 1907 als Jahrgangsbester an der japanischen Marineakademie. Von 1912 bis 1913 diente er als Marineattaché in Großbritannien.
Nobutake Kondō (近藤 信竹, Kondō Nobutake, 25 September 1886 – 19 February 1953) was an admiral in the Imperial Japanese Navy during World War II. As commander of IJN 2nd Fleet, the Navy's principal detached force for independent operations, Kondō was regarded as second in importance only to Admiral Isoroku Yamamoto .
Vizeadmiral Kondō Nobutake übernahm am 15. Dezember 1938 das Oberkommando über die 5. Flotte. Er wurde am 29. September 1939 von Vizeadmiral Takasu Shirō abgelöst. Die Flotte wurde am 15. November 1939 aufgelöst und ihre Schiffe in die China-Regionalflotte eingegliedert.
Flotte unter Vizeadmiral Kondō Nobutake lief am 26. März aus der Basis Kendari auf Celebes mit Kurs auf den Indischen Ozean aus. Zu ihr gehörten die fünf Flugzeugträger Akagi, Hiryū, Sōryū, Shōkaku und Zuikaku, die Schlachtschiffe Hiei, Haruna, Kirishima und Kongō.
25. Sept. 2010 · On 15 Nov 1937, amidst the Second Sino-Japanese War, Kondo was promoted to the rank of vice admiral. As the commanding officer of the 5th Fleet, he provided naval support for the Japanese conquest of the island of Hainan and coastal regions of Guangdong Province, China.
