Tosia Altman (Hebrew: טוסיה אלטמן; 24 August 1919 – 26 May 1943) was a courier and smuggler for Hashomer Hatzair and the Jewish Combat Organization (ŻOB) during the German occupation of Poland and the Warsaw Ghetto Uprising.
Tosia Altman (1919-1943) was a leader of Ha-Shomer ha-Za'ir, a Zionist youth movement, and a key organizer of the Warsaw Ghetto Uprising. She died in German custody after being captured by the Gestapo in 1943.
Tosia Altman lebte während des zweiten Weltkrieges in Warschau. Nach der Besetzung der Stadt durch deutsche Truppen mussten alle Juden 1940 in ein Ghetto ziehen. Etwa 400 000 Menschen wurden auf engstem Raum zusammengedrängt. Die Lebensbedingungen waren katastrophal.
6. Aug. 2020 · Tosia Altman was a young woman who smuggled herself into ghettos, organized resistance groups and participated in the Warsaw Ghetto Uprising. She died of her injuries shortly after, but her story is featured in a new exhibition at the Wiener Holocaust Library in London.
