Leben. Barré war ab 1919 Professor der Neurologie an der Universität von Straßburg . Er beschrieb 1916 zusammen mit Georges Charles Guillain und André Strohl die Polyradikulitis Guillain-Barré, die heute die wichtigste Ursache akuter Lähmungserscheinungen als Folge von Entzündungen darstellt.

Jean Alexandre Barré (25 May 1880, Nantes – 26 April 1967, Strasbourg) was a French neurologist who in 1916 worked on the identification of Guillain-Barré-Strohl syndrome, as well as Barré–Liéou syndrome.
