Danny Phillip Dietz Jr. (January 26, 1980 – June 28, 2005) was a Navy SEAL who was awarded the U.S. Navy's second-highest decoration, the Navy Cross, along with the Purple Heart, for his actions during the War in Afghanistan.
Danny Dietz was a Navy SEAL who died in 2005 while conducting counterterrorism operations in Kunar Province, Afghanistan. He received the Navy Cross for his heroism and was part of a team led by LT Michael Murphy, who also received the Navy Cross posthumously.
