Virgílio do Carmo da Silva SDB (born 27 November 1967) is an East Timorese Roman Catholic prelate who was appointed Bishop of Dili on 30 January 2016. He became an archbishop when the diocese was elevated in 2019.
On 11 September 2019, the Holy Father appointed him the first metropolitan archbishop of Díli. Created and proclaimed Cardinal by Pope Francis in the consistory of 27 August 2022, of the Title of S. Alberto Magno.

Pope Francis Jan. 30, 2016, appointed Salesian Father Virgilio Do Carmo Da Silva as the new bishop of Dili, in the Capital of Timor Leste, East Timor. He was the provincial superior of the Salesians of Don Bosco in Timor Leste at the time of appointment.
31. Aug. 2022 · In 2015, he became Provincial of East Timor and of the Vice Province of Indonesia. On 30 January 2016, he was appointed by Pope Francis as Bishop of Dili. In September 2019, Pope Francis appointed Bishop Virgílio do Carmo da Silva as the first Archbishop of East Timor.
