Tara A. Smith (born 1961) is an American philosopher. She is a professor of philosophy, the BB&T Chair for the Study of Objectivism, and the Anthem Foundation Fellow for the Study of Objectivism at the University of Texas at Austin.

Biography. Courses. Professor Smith’s main interests concern the nature and foundations of values, virtues, and the requirements of objective law. Legal interests center around proper methodology in judicial review and First Amendment issues of intellectual freedom. Her most recent books are (2024), (forthcoming 2024), and (2015).
