Kurt Koffka (March 12, 1886 – November 22, 1941) was a German psychologist and professor. He was born and educated in Berlin, Germany; he died in Northampton, Massachusetts, from coronary thrombosis. He was influenced by his maternal uncle, a biologist, to pursue science.
Kurt Koffka was a German psychologist and cofounder, with Wolfgang Köhler and Max Wertheimer, of the Gestalt school of psychology. Koffka studied psychology with Carl Stumpf at the University of Berlin and received his Ph.D. degree in 1909. Koffka was associated with the University of Giessen.
