Bruno Benedetto Rossi ( / ˈrɒsi /; Italian: [ˈrossi]; 13 April 1905 – 21 November 1993) was an Italian experimental physicist. He made major contributions to particle physics and the study of cosmic rays. A 1927 graduate of the University of Bologna, he became interested in cosmic rays.

(1905–93) Italian-Americanphysicist. In 1931 he showed that some cosmic rays have very high energies. After working in particle physics, Rossi seized the opportunities provided by the space age. He showed in 1958 that the interplanetary medium contains ionized gas.
