Johannes Petrus Schouten (born 17 May 1956, in Schoorl) is a Dutch scientist, entrepreneur and philanthropist. He is the inventor of Multiplex-Ligation-dependent Probe Amplification (MLPA), a method for the research of genetic disorders. He founded the biotech company MRC Holland, based in Amsterdam and the MRC Holland Foundation.

Among other things, this dissertation considered the consequences of the lack of freedom and autonomy for the welfare of the production worker. An employee’s well-being, he argued, is at least as important as production.
Jan Arnoldus Schouten (28 August 1883 – 20 January 1971) was a Dutch mathematician and Professor at the Delft University of Technology. He was an important contributor to the development of tensor calculus and Ricci calculus, and was one of the founders of the Mathematisch Centrum in Amsterdam.
