Herbie, The Love Bug ist eine fünfteilige US-amerikanische Fernsehserie aus dem Jahr 1982, die auf der Filmreihe um den VW Käfer Herbie basiert.
The Love Bug (also known as Herbie the Love Bug) is a 1969 American sports adventure comedy film directed by Robert Stevenson from a screenplay by Bill Walsh and Don DaGradi, based on the story "Car, Boy, Girl" by Gordon Buford. The film is the first installment in the Herbie film series.
Herbie, the Love Bug is a sentient 1963 Volkswagen Beetle which has been featured in several Walt Disney motion pictures starting with the The Love Bug in 1969. As the protagonist it has a mind of its own, being capable of driving itself and often becoming a serious contender in auto racing.

The popularity of the films lead to Herbie taking part in many Disney parades of the 1970s, as well as the "Love Bug Day" event at Disneyland that serves as a VW Bug decoration contest. Herbie makes an appearance in The Grand Opening of Walt Disney World, where he races around the Tomorrowland Speedway with Buddy Hackett as his driver.
The Love Bug: Directed by Robert Stevenson. With Dean Jones, Michele Lee, David Tomlinson, Buddy Hackett. Down-on-his-luck race car driver Jim Douglas teams up with a little VW Bug that has a mind of it's own, not realizing Herbie's worth until a sneaky rival plots to steal him.
Jim Douglas hat dem Autorennsport abgeschworen und unterrichtet nun in einer Fahrschule – natürlich mit tatkräftiger Unterstützung durch Herbie, dem Wunderkäfer. Dabei geraten sie immer wieder in gefährliche und abenteuerliche Situationen.
