Richard Theodore Ely (April 13, 1854 – October 4, 1943) was an American economist, author, and leader of the Progressive movement who called for more government intervention to reform what they perceived as the injustices of capitalism, especially regarding factory conditions, compulsory education, child labor, and labor unions.
Richard Ely was an actor who appeared in M*A*S*H, I Escaped from Devil's Island and The Streets of San Francisco. He was born in 1945 in Indiana and died in 2019 in Los Angeles.

1. Juni 2021 · Richard T. Ely, third from left, founded the institute in 1920 and moved it to Northwestern University in 1925. Ely created the field of land economics, launched a journal for the field, and worked with real estate leaders and policy makers to reshape the real estate sector.
In the mid-1880s, Richard Ely founded the American Economic Association (AEA) in a conscious attempt to commit the economics profession to statism as against the older laissez-faire economists grouped in the Political Economy Club.
